About Me

My
Philosophy

A 21st-century education that doesn't incorporate and anticipate 22nd-century tech is destined to fail.

Today's students live in a technology-centered world. If education does not embrace technology, it will fail to prepare our students for the future. In over 25 years as a classroom teacher, and most recently as an Educational Technologist and Principal Learning Consultant, it has remained my core belief that how schools incorporate technology into curriculums directly impacts their engagement and ultimately success.

My
Story

I entered the classroom for the first time over 25 years ago. When I started teaching, I was passionate about exposing students to new ideas and different ways of thinking which is why I primarily taught world religions and obtained my MRE.

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. My family and I were displaced for several months due to the storm. As a teacher at the time, I watched as my students and my own children were disrupted from their studies and simultaneously disconnected from their classroom community. I was frustrated and knew at that moment that I wanted to figure out how to prevent something like this from happening in the future.

When I moved schools, I was immediately impressed with the technological equipment available and made it a mission to learn as much as I could and incorporate as much of the tech as possible into my own classrooms. Once we contracted with our first LMS, I knew my future was in this type of tech.

Since 2020, as educators switched between hybrid and online/distance learning due to COVID-19, I have been proud to support teachers in navigating this new norm and as we move back into classrooms full-time, support teachers in engaging tech to maximize their classroom spaces and educational instruction.
